We are thrilled to announce that our company AtmosPower has been awarded a European patent for our pioneering two-stage VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) based Biogas Upgradation technology. Our patented technology guarantees the highest methane recovery rates (>99%) and methane purity (>98%) in the industry.
Our recovery and purity rates remain unparalleled at the current price point at which these systems are offered. For example, similar recovery and purity rates can be achieved by employing a significantly more expense (in terms of Capex & Opex) technology such as a 3-stage membrane-based system or an amine scrubber.
The exceptional recovery and purity percentage we offer is a testament to the efficacy of our biogas upgradation technology. With time, we aim to deliver more groundbreaking solutions in the field of biogas upgradation. But for now, let us briefly understand VPSA and biogas upgradation.
Biogas upgradation is extracting methane (CH4) by purifying biogas. Biogas, a renewable energy, is obtained from anaerobic digestion of organic waste. The process involves decomposing organic material in the absence of oxygen, resulting in biomethane. This environmentally friendly gas can be used in several industrial and commercial applications.
VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) which is a variant of the PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology is commonly used for biogas upgradation. The PSA technology typically operates at 6 to 10 BarG pressure, while the beauty of the Atmos’s VPSA system is that it operates at only 0.7 barG, providing huge power savings. During the process, the gas comes in contact with various adsorbents in a column (vessel) to retain H2S, C02 and carbon dioxide. This maximizes the volume of methane in the product gas, resulting in biomethane.
Our patented two-stage VPSA technology is known for its exceptional methane recovery and purity rates. The systems is fully automated and operates on our inhouse designed SCADA-based system. Some of the most essential features and advantages of our upgradation systems are:
